Design concept of original sculpture: Final resting place for these blades is above the front wheels on the body of my 2002 Chevy Blazer. –This won’t happen much before I wreck it once or twice, however... I was struck by the sight of a piece of black plastic being blown out through a small slit in a burlap covering over the back of a hauling truck while driving through Chatham County, NC. The post- 911 – post-Iraq War associated an image in my mind that of an eagle’s wing – big, black, strong – the eagle body shielded behind the burlap. Some thoughts: Is America’s might partially revealed? If you look behind the curtain, will you become aware of the bloodiest parts of America’s might? Do you dare? These wings are given to the viewer to draw on the viewer’s experience and their exploration of how flight would feel if their wings were strong as steel and pointed with carbon blades – would their thoughts then be evil thoughts? Size: 34" Material: Re-purposed steel saw blades and flat stock
