Bronze Results

I created several moulds in the lost wax method using a composite resin/sand mold over a Victoria Brown wax sculpture.

For the ‘bronze guys’ I first sculpted the original figures in clay, then painted them with a rubber-latex compound, and subsequently cast with a plaster support (the “mother mould”). After removing the clay originals, I poured molten wax into the rubber molds to create the wax “positives” which I afterwards surrounded with a resin/sand mould. The sand moulds were then placed in a large foundry oven to melt out the wax leaving a cavity into which I later “poured” molten bronze.

I followed a similar process with the masks except the wax mold was the original piece, press molded from a bisque impression of my face.
