Ramstrong's Note

I am pleased with this month's design. My first design, although very nice, was rushed. This design benefits from an extra month in between. The original design was that of 7 gems. I think I capture the spirit correctly. Furthermore, it was decided that something moving was to be included in the design. It took me a few tries, but I realize that the gems themselves can be moved. This provided the final design element.

The design is a little less graphic heavy than the last. This is intentional. The number of elements are doubled, so there's a little less room for fancy graphics. This is fine. As a web designer, I have to know when to put a lot of graphics, and when to hold back. Just because I'm a graphic artist, doesn't mean that I must have graphic laden website.

The sketches are done on ZenBoardtm. This is a special paper that turns dark when wet, then miraculously turn light again when dry. The overall effect is that of non-permanence. Perfect for doodling. Not so good for sharing. I had to take the picture when the paper is relatively wet. Doubtless, the lower quality than usual is caused by my rushing the painting.

This month's project revolves around business card, specifically mine. In order to be a professional graphic artist, I must have a professionally designed business card. I designed it myself. Being a professional graphic artist means that I have to do the design myself. I think the result is excellent! Everybody who sees it agreed that the card is very well designed. Now all I have to do is design a postcard to go along with it...
