TEXAS CHAPTER
Deadline: August 15, 2006 Entries. First 10 pages plus a maximum 5 page synopsis.Does your romance novel have that spark it takes to ignite an editor's interest in reading more of your book? RWA-ETC's Southern Heat contest is designed to help writers decide if those critical first 10 pages and the accompanying synopses have what it takes to intrigue an editor. The contest is open to writers who are unpublished and uncontracted in the category entered.
Categories: include:
- Contemporary (category/series 40,000+ words)
- Mainstream/Single Title (any time period)
- Historical/Regency
- Paranormal/Time Travel/Futuristic
- Inspirational
- Preliminary round to be judged and commented on by
published authors. Top three finalists in each category judged
by New York romance editors. Winners complete manuscripts will
be read and considered by same editors.

This contest is open to published authors as long as the author has not been published or contracted in the category entered.
2006 TEXAS GOLD ROMANCE AWARD
-for novels copyrighted in 2005-Author or publishers will need to submit four copies of title entered.
Deadline: April 15, 2006.
Competition open to romance novels written by a Texas author or romance novels set mainly in Texas. Entries must have a 2005 copyright. Entries will be judged by romance readers and booksellers.Romance categories are:
- Short Contemporary,
- Long Contemporary,
- Mainstream (any time period),
- Historical/Regency,
- Paranormal/Time Travel/Futuristic.
