This 24 y/o HIV positive male developed sudden change in mental status. Selected images from his pre and post contrast CT and MRI studies shown above demonstrate lesions in the posterior parieto-occipital region with considerable surrounding edema and mass effect but with only minimal peripheral enhancement. An infectious etiology especially toxoplasmosis was suspected and confirmed by stereotactic biopsy.
