This 58 y/o male presented with a history of 40 pound weight loss. He denied abdominal pain or other symptoms. Physical exam was unremarkable. He was referred for abdominal CT. Selected images from his multi-phasic contrast enhanced abdominal CT shown above demonstrate a hypoenhancing area of the pancreas encasing arterial structures. CT guided core biopsy via a guiding cannula (lower right image) confirmed the diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
