


This 63 y/o male was referred to MRI for evaluation of swelling on the palmar aspect of the third finger with limitation of motion and pain. Symptoms had been increasing for more than six months. Selected coronal, saggital and axial MR images shown above demonstrate findings consistent with a large synovial cyst, giant cell tumor was also considered. Surgical resection and pathologic evaluation revealed a multilocular synovial cyst with multiple concretions, negative for crystals on polarized light examination.
