This 51 y/o female with a history of hepatitis and alcohol abuse was referred for abdominal CT to evaluate abnormal liver function studies. Post contrast CT images shown above demonstrate a focal area of enhancement in the posterior aspect of the right lobe of the liver. MRI of the liver both before and after Teslascan (mangafodipir) was then performed. The selected images shown above demonstrate an area of increased signal after Teslascan administration in the same area that showed increased enhancement on CT. A liver biopsy was done and the diagnosis of focal nodular hyperplasia was made.
