Right Iliacus Abscess, Ascites, Staph Septicemia From SBE
| This 48 y/o male with a prosthetic
cardiac valve, intermittent fever and abdominal distension also complained of
right leg pain on flexion. Selected images from his pelvic CT pre and post
contrast shown above demonstrate an enhancing mass in the right iliacus muscle.
Renal insufficiency and septicemia from subacute bacterial endocarditis with
staph was found in this patient. The iliacus abnormality is consistent with
focal infection from the septicemia. The ascites was felt to be secondary to the
patient's renal insufficiency. |
