Art Deco at it's best!
This 1938 Philco Model 38-9 may be the most attractive of the series. Finish by Joe Himsl, Concord, CA. Electronic restoration by Radio Doc, San Francisco Bay Area.

Top: A nice origninal finish and cloth E.H. Scott Windsor
Waiting for it's Allwave 23 Chassis.
Bottom: A perfectly refinished Zenith 12-S-267. Finish by Mickey Himsl. Original cloth and knobs.

Just two of the Philco's that went through my shop last year. A model 70 above, and a great looking model 90 below. Both sets had their tuning condensers disassembled, cleaned in an acid bath, and remounted with fresh hardware and grommets.

This site is maintained for your pleasure, so let me know what you would like to see. My main focus in antique radio is on wood sets produced from about 1930 to 1939. The bulk of my collection is made up of sets made by E.H. Scott, Zenith, and Philco. However a few diversions have crept in including several Catalin examples and a number of early transistor sets. Please let me know if there is area of collecting or repair that I can help with. The picture above is that of an E.H. Scott Philharmonic chassis in the process of being rebuilt. Best regards, Doc

A project lasting several months, the cosmetic and electronic restoration of this E.H. Scott Allwave 23 is finally complete. Many thanks to Joe Himsl for another great cabinet restoration.

Original knobs, replacement grill cloth.
Serial number K-533.
Electronic restoration by Radio Doc.
