This is a collection of MIDI files from a variety of sources.  Some originated from MIDI files found on the web, and some are from Band-In-A Box files from the web or created by myself (or w/ the major contribution of the BIAB Melodist feature.)

I then manipulate the files w/ Cakewalk, adding tracks recorded from my Yamaha WX11, and recently, my WX5 MIDI Wind Controller, and save them back out as SMF 0 MIDI files.  The WX11/5 tracks use a VL voice from the MU100R.

To help w/ the manipulation, I have created several Sysex banks, which you can find in Sysex.zip.  Most of the banks are for the MU100R, though there are some for the VL70-m.  The Normal.sys bank is a MU100R bank, and loads Stage1 reverb, Pops EQ, Reverb Pan 32, VAR Connect SYS, VAR Stage1, and VAR Pan 96.  This is my most frequent base setup, and sets up the system for use with my Pos3D program (Pos3D.htm)

The top file section consists of MIDI files from the net. The next section has MIDI files generated from BiaB files from the net, from sample files included with BiAB, or by using Version 11's Import Chords from MIDI file feature.  The third section has files that I generated with the Melodist feature of BiaB.

I created this web site for a few reasons:   1st, to gain experience creating and maintaining a web site; 2nd, to have a motivation to produce quality songs, and further, motivation to learn more about XG; Lastly, though there are many excellent XG MIDI files on the net, and even some using the VL section of the MU100R, I had not found any that use the VL instruments controlled by cc #2, breath - they used modulation instead, which I feel does not unleash the full power of the VL.  So my contribution is breath-controlled VL-XG files.

At the very least, I wanted to contribute files, that even if one wanted to remove my VL parts, would still leave a quality XG MIDI file for their own use.

IMPORTANT  NOTE:  These files are optimized (at least to my current abilities) for the Yamaha MU100R.  They do sound OK on the Yamaha S-YXG100 SoftSynth and may sound alright on lower models of the MU line. They may need tweaking, as I used instrument banks from the MU100R without regard for compatibility with the lower models (or the SoftSynth, for which I haven't really delved into the bank setup.)

Go to the Other Links frame to access Yamaha's site for the SoftSynth.
