Robert Harmon's Favorite Recipes

There are some things one has to do for oneself to be able to fully appreciate. Cooking is one of these activities. Like most people I eat out a lot more now than I used to in the 60's & 70's. This is partly due to working in urban environments where so many great restaurants are located. It's also partly due to my heavy travel schedule; when out of town I very seldom resort to 'fast' food. It doesn't taste good, it's loaded with fat, contains questionable ingredients, and is prepared by people without the qualifications to work elsewhere. The lone exception to this is I LOVE GOOD HAMBURGERS.

Because I like to eat and am a curious person I became interested in what goes into preparing the dishes I was enjoying in restaurants. It was a natural progression from being a consumer of good food to being a preparer of good food. There are many venues for learning to cook well. France & America have world class institutions where one can master the craft of gourmet cooking. The community college systems in many cities have trade schools where one can study. One of the best ideas is the gourmet vacation where one visits places like Tuscany, learning the styles & recipes of local chefs who teach you what the region has to offer gastronomically.

As a result of my love of eating well I've learned to cook well. As a result of my cooking skills I've collected many recipes of food that I love to serve to friends at my table. This page is dedicated to sharing these recipes with other people interested in preparing good food.
