Climb out
With the GPS spoting (positioning) available in the airplanes at Perris, you don't really need to worry too much about missing the drop zone, but as a learning experience, you really do need to pay attention to where you are exiting the airplane and what it looks like from 12,500 feet above the surface. Hmmm, nice holes -- now, where's the drop zone? This particular lesson also adds the element of a climb out type exit. Together, we hold on for a few seconds outside the airplane and feel the wind before taking the big step backwards.

Face off
180 turn
Up to this point I've always had the intructor within easy view. You can see the consistant problem I've been having -- my legs are just not extended enough. It wasn't until I saw this video that I realized how bad it was. The point of today's exercise it to see if I can turn away from the instructor, turn back toward him and redock. Here I've turned away from him. As a result of having my legs not extended enough, I'm backsliding away the entire freefall. It's not pretty, but I do pass the level.
