Yes, I've worked there for more than 20 years!

I am the Technical Designer with the Disneyland Broadcast Services Department.

If a television signal goes from anywhere inside of Disneyland to anywhere else in the world via satellite or fiber optics, I probably have -something- to do with it.

My duties also include supervising our post-production facility. We have two traditional linear editing bays that source from BetaCam to D-2. I been known to edit a video tape or two myself.

Some of the recent projects I have worked on that you can see are;

My Work History

I started working at Disneyland in 1974 -- I thought it might be a nice way to make a little money for Christmas.

For the next seven years, I worked on a number of things for the Entertainment Division including both shows at the park and on the road.

One of the things I kind of fell into was producing large multi-media programs for events held at Disneyland. Mostly these were for banquets being held at the Disneyland Hotel the evening of large events such as Festival Japan. We'd have maybe a dozen or so photographers take slides during the event, process the slides and then, using a computer, set them to music by that night. I think this was a great way to learn about the pacing of a show and how a simple cut or dissolve could be used to evoke an emotion.

About 1982 I transfered into the Disney University, the training and development area at Disneyland. I created a number of training programs using slides, film and video tape for them including orientations for new cast members -- Disney speak for employees. While I continued to work for the Disney University, other departments at Disneyland occasionally used our resources and equipment. One of those was the Disneyland Publicity Department.

In late 1985, Disneyland Publicity decided that it was about time for it to expand to include it's own video area. They had been using free-lance camera people and facilities at WED (now WDI), but during the last few months they figured out that I, along with a couple of other people, was able to do everything they needed in-house.

In the same way that happened, our department has grown and evolved in such a way that now it is a resource for the entire Walt Disney Company.

Over the years I've been fortunate enough to get some really neat assignments including aerial photography from helicopters and visting the USSR with Mickey Mouse.
