Provence

Join us and similar-minded tandemists on a fun tandem cycle tour of Provence. We have planned a great mix of history, wine tasting, food, scenery and the company of cycling friends, old and new.

This is a well-designed cycling experience using minor roads where possible to avoid busy highways. We will ride from 30 – 60 miles each day, with two nights in most towns we stay in, with three nights in Bedoin, at the base of Mont Ventoux. This allows for six optional rest days. Expect the usual PennyWise mix of exhilarating cycling and interesting sightseeing.

This is a major destination for all, including cyclists. The colors and sun are especially vivid here and that is what attracted Van Gogh and Cezanne, as well as countless others.

Our tour begins and ends in Pertuis, at the southern end of the Vaucluse region. Our hotel offers swimming and tennis for those who wish.

Arriving at Marseille airport on April 21, you transfer via chartered bus with other tour participants to Pertuis. This is included in the tour price. The transfer will take about 90 minutes.

During the next two weeks you will experience Provence. Of course we visit the tourist attractions, including Pont du Gard, Les Baux de Provence, St Rémy de Provence, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, Chateauneuf du Pape, Avignon, and Mont Ventoux. But we also visit more "off the beaten path" places that exude charm and will give you some bragging rights back home, and are a hallmark of PennyWise tours. We will visit wineries and taste their wares. We will visit medieval cities and walled villages. And all at the leisurely pace that lets us discover the essence of our environs.

You may choose to extend your stay in Provence with a visit to other towns and cities, such as Nimes, Arles, and Aix-en-Provence. The Mediterranean, Nice, Monaco are all close enough to visit. Or you can include a visit to Paris, just 3.5 hours away by TGV.
