Alright, here's where I admit that my book greed
has gotten out of control. There's always good reasons for being
seduced by more books than you have time to read and I have many, usually
beginning with "I have to buy it now:
As you can see, there are many excuses for book over-indulgence. Now, I have been working on the backlog lately. I actually didn't receive a single book for Christmas in 2002 because everyone was so concerned that I might already have the book they had in mind. So it's finally time to post the backlog and get on with it. I am hoping this will also encourage me to read these books once and for all or give up on them entirely -- although giving up on them is something I hate to do. I am always afraid that right after I give up on a book and decide that I'll never read it, it'll suddenly become one that I have to read and I'll end up buying it again. Grrr. So that's the rationale, let's get to the list! Those marked with a star have been at least started, hopefully they'll be finished soon! Also, there are books that are on my mental 'To Be Read" list (TBR) but are on our shelves legitimately because Joe has read them (Dune for example). With the backlog I have, it may a while yet before I get to those. They don't appear on this list because at least someone in the house is reading them! A word about the list -- I've decided not to remove those I've read, merely to 'strikethrough' them so you can still see them. This is also to further my committment to clearing out this backlog by making it seem I've done some of the reading. I've also added a column at the end to show when the book was actually read because let's face it, I'm not the most diligent in updating these pages! |

I've updated the titles that have been read slince December 2004 but have
not added those titles bought since then. It would be quite the undertaking.
But as you can see, books more recently bough get read sooner than those
languishing in the backlog. Now that I have a job in a bookstore,
I am seduced by new books and tend to read them right away. I'll
add to the Book Talk page those that are worthy of a mention.
