D-tex Metal Detectors

One of my favorite brand of metal detectors I have owned was D-Tex. My first real detector was a Tiny-Tex back in 1969, it was a very small box BFO unit. Found many coins with it around school yards and parks. My first gold ring was found with it and not to far away a Canadian Large Cent.

When the SK and CK models were introduced, I convinced a local dealer to handle the line. When they arrived I field tested them and helped sell them. They were excellent working machines as they were based on the Garrett Master Hunter and Groundhog series. Found many deeply buried old coins and relics with them.

Below are some pictures of circa 1980- SK-50 and CK-20 I have restored to original working condition over the past several years.

If you own a Dtex SK, CK, TK, MK or RS model and need a copy of the owners manual, I made a .pdf file of it. You can use the link below to download it.

For the models above that are slightly older, the batteries were mounted in a tray and slid into an opening on the side of the detector. If you have one of these units, you need to do a 20 second mod.

Recently acquired a nice amount of vintage detector catalogs, flyers etc. for Compass, D-Tex, Bounty Hunter, Teknetics, Cue, etc. I am currently in the process of scanning them for future distribution via downloads. Stay tuned.

D-tex also made a underwater metal detector called the Scuba King. As well as some earlier TR discriminator models that are interesting. Will post more as I get the info.
