Yarn Work

I'm a threadie, but I do work in yarn (donations of yarn are welcome).

It all started in October 1998 when I joined Crochet Partners (CP). One of the charities that they mentioned was for Circles of Hope or "granny daughters." Since these little crochet "squares" are made with only two yards of scrap yarn, I proceeded to make a few "granny daughers" with the leftover yarn I had. I was so excited about what I was creating with so little yarn, I told a few of my coworkers about the project. A couple of them mentioned that they had yarn that they would never use and gave their stashes to me, and then told a few others what I was doing. I received various types of yarn - rug, baby, sport and worsted weight - over 50 skeins. I knew that I couldn't just make circles of hope, and I promised myself that I would use the yarn for good causes.

I have used the inital batch of yarn I received, and have received more batches. So, here are pictures of the charity projects that I have completed. Click on the picture or title for a bigger view. Naturally, I couldn't always follow the pattern exactly since I had to use what I received, so I also included what I changed in the caption.

I have also come full circle and am once again joining granny daughters, but for Crafting for a Cause.
