During the Vietnam War, it was hatred like Senator Dick Durbin's for our military by American politicians and American celebrities that helped bring on attacks on symbols of American Patriotism.  While I was serving in the Marine Corps' Combined Action Program (CAP) in a Vietnamese peasant-farming village, my hometown's Vietnam Veteran Memorial was attacked with paint and tar on two separate occasions.    Please press here to see the pictures that were sent to me, while I was living and serving ( 24/7 ) in the Duc Duc Resettlement Village.    This same hatred for the American Military helped bring on the massacre of the Duc Duc Resettlement Village.   As Senator John Kerry was appearing before television cameras all over America, condemning his fellow brother and sister Vietnam Vets, the village was burned to the ground by a large unit of terrorists.  Please Press Here to read the details of the Massacre.

Daley: Durbin Should Apologize For Guantanamo Comments
http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/local_story_172141732.html

CHICAGO
(CBS 2)
Mayor Daley says it's time for Senator Dick Durbin to apologize for comparing U.S. soldiers to Nazis and the Guantanamo Bay prison to a Soviet gulag.

Durbin's fighting words were meant for republicans, but now he's feeling the heat from a fellow democrat whose support he can't do without.

“If you really believe those men and women in Guatamano Bay are Nazis, then you'd better rethink what America's all about,” Mayor Daley said.

Daley's reaction was harsh, but with a son in the Army and potentially heading to war, maybe not such a surprise.

Durbin, as the number two leader among senate democrats, launched his rhetorical strike last week.

Durbin's remarks were calculated to rev-up dems by bashing the Bush administration's treatment of Iraqi prisoners. It may have backfired.

“Well, I think it's a disgrace and he's a good friend of mine but I think it's a disgrace to say that any man or woman in the military acts like that, or that report is like that. You go and talk to some victims of the Holocaust and they will tell you horror stories and there are not horror stories like that in Guatamano Bay,” Daley said.

Durbin attempted a near apology on Friday by issuing a statement on his website saying "I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings... our country's standing in the world community has been badly damaged by the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo."

Letter to Senator Durbin From Paul Galanti

Senator Durbin,

As one who was held in a North Vietnamese Prison for nearly seven years and whose definition of torture and bad treatment is somewhat at variance with yours, I deplore your senseless comments about alleged
"barbaric treatment" at our terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo.

Your remarks comparing Guantanamo to the regimes of Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot are outrageous. I tried to think of why a rational human being could make such an outlandish statement but I keep coming up short. I
thought I'd seen it all when Howard Dean performed his infamous scream in Iowa but your diatribe yesterday eclipsed Dean's moment of Hannibal
Lecter lunacy. And your moment of pique will be infinitely more damaging to members of our Armed Forces serving in harm's way.

I noted, when searching for your contact information, that the first item Google came up with was al Jazeera's joy at your comments. You, sir, for having aided and abetted the enemy in time of war, have been
relegated in my mind to the status of Jane Fonda and your colleague, John Kerry as contemptible traitors.

I hope not too many of our valiant members of the Armed Forces have to suffer for your stupid comments. Shame on you.

This is copied to the Chicago Tribune's Letters Editor.
It is blindcopied to my family members from Illinois and to several military blog groups to which I subscribe.

Sincerely,
Paul E. Galanti

I found this great PTSD article on a military base.   It was in a FAMILY MAGAZINE for American troops.
PTSD does not only hit our military men and women.    It impacts a great number of Americans, who never left home...
Child abuse, elderly abuse, marital abuse, street crime victims (rape), etc. are some of the biggest sufferers.
Understanding PTSD is a great way from keeping it from passing down through generations.

IS  HISTORY  REPEATING  ITSELF...
(Who Are Today's Terrorist Connections?)

Two recently discovered documents captured from the Vietnamese communists during the Vietnam War strongly support the contention that a close link existed between the Hanoi regime and the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) while John Kerry served as the group's leading national spokesman.

Researchers Troy Jenkins and Tom Wyld located the two Vietnamese communist documents referenced above in the archives of the Vietnam Center at Texas Tech University, in the Douglas Pike Collection. Douglas Pike was a leading authority on the Vietnam War who collected over 2 million pages of original documents now archived at the Vietnam Center. James Reckner, Ph.D., Director of the Vietnam Center at Texas Tech, verifies that the documents in the Pike collection are original and authentic. The Circular and the Directive are listed as items numbered 2150901039b and
2150901041 respectively.

Amnesty International: Insurgents are guilty

The Amnesty International report — "In Cold Blood: Abuses by Armed Groups" — said (terrorist) insurgents were guilty of direct attacks intended to cause the greatest possible loss of civilian life, indiscriminate attacks resulting in the deaths of civilians, targeting humanitarian organizations, abductions and killing captured and defenseless police and military personnel.

"There is no honor nor heroism in blowing up people going to pray or murdering a terrified hostage.  Those carrying out such acts are criminals, nothing less, whose actions undermine any claim they may have to be pursuing a legitimate cause," Amnesty said.
