LEE VING AND PHILO DOWN IN THE PLUSH

POST-NUCLEAUS BACKSTAGE OF THE OLYMPIC

AUDITORIUM ( IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ) .

[early 1980's]

[kiki] How and when was the band started?

[lee] We all thought it up over Vodka and Twinkies. It was unionimbity of what you call lunchmeat.

[philo] We found that our ecclectical blend of music compiled with the rock and roll lack of physical situation with the humanity, sounded in itself a niche well within the society with which we function. As mankind evolves through the econo class of its parenthood. That is the necessary advantageous outlook to look of um... I forgot the word!

[kiki] Why did you decide to call yourselves FEAR?

[lee] Well, Philo has a degree in vectalucastronics. We all agreed on FEAR as the perfect name.

[kiki] How long have you been together?

[lee] I have been together all my life!

[kiki] Your album, FEAR, was released on Slash/Warner Records. It was recorded in '81 and is still going strong. When will was the second LP?

[lee] We knew we were going to have a second LP. We had a contract with Slash and it would come out in 1987.

[philo] I would like to mention thhis second album. An old school chum of mine, Davey Van Halen, maybe you have heard of him, he has inspired a lot of the guitar work that I perform on this LP.

[lee] and rightfully so!

[kiki] FEAR has done many shows, but not as much as other bands. Are you holding a low profile?

[lee] We try to stay out of the public eye. We have had many opportunities to record LP's. We have recorded 3 LP's since our first, and we have decided never to release any of them! If we did, we would get commercialized, and that would be fucked!!

[kiki] When people speak of FEAR, society thinks of violence...

[lee] No, that is all erroneous! We are just trying to make friends!! I am a member of the Bud Club and I salute the Club. 'We love the Bud Club'!!!

[kiki] Under what classification would you enter FEAR musically?

[lee] Top Secret! A brown leather biege sort of fur colored jacket!

[philo] A brown leather kind of rock n roll band!

[kiki] How do you feel you have inspired up and coming new talent?

[lee] We have hopefully given them something of a bad attitude! And filled them with pure hate!!

[kiki] Tell us about your single, " FUCK XMAS! "

[philo] Well, I wrote "Fuck Xmas". It was inspired from mankinds' ecological situation applying to how he has to deal with himself in the technocracy that comes from the Ronald Reagan democracy.

[lee] Socially economically speaking, that is.

[kiki] " Let's have a War ". Do really mean it?

[lee] Fucking of course! Are you kidding? We are just trying to make friends!

[kiki] What about " Beef Baloney " ?

[lee] That is a song about Oscar Meyers rise to stardom!!

[kiki] " I Don't Care About You ". Who don't you care about?

[lee] Who do you have??

[kiki] Who do you want???

[philo] We find it's an ecclesiastical kind of fusionist blend of harmonic tempered sustained tonal qualities.

[lee] Counterpunctually speaking there!!

[philo] In which your tonal bass is related upon the heavy E cord which is, of course, very homosexual upon all kinds of music.

[lee] Now, if the dealer wins, the house wins!

[philo] I would like to announce that the FEARs are persuing the new lean mean FEAR era in which the FEARs will be playing, totally mind boggling!

[kiki] " New York's All Right, if you like Saxaphones ". What is the real meaning behind that song?

[lee] There's no point explaining it, go there for a week and find out for yourself!

[kiki] Let's talk about " Foreign Policy ".

[lee] The balance of my checking account was low and I wanted to write something commercial that maybe the Administration would get behind. We thought it was highly slossy!!!

[kiki] Lee, you're also an actor. Tell us about your role in the movie " FlashDance ".

[lee] I am not an actor!!! And it was a sesame bun with onions! I usually like plain or French rolls, but I took what they gave me!

[kiki] Lee, your LP states that you play a concussion. How does one play a concussion?

[lee] You don't wanna know! It's an old family secret!! We spelled it properly on the album though!

[kiki] Rumor has it Lee, that you once had a lizard tattood on your face!...

[lee] If thet're not blind, they can see!

[kiki] How do you think the rumor was started?

[lee] On of account we are out of BEER! And the interview is over until we get more BEER! So, everybody, fuck you! We are just kidding!!! We just want to be your fiends!!! That's all!!! Fuck you!!! We all wanna be your friends!

So, we said a high farewell to the backstage spazz goings on, and went out and slammed, and toasted good old Budweiser.

HERE IN L.A. PRODUCER, BRENDON MULLEN, SAID: " I have known Lee for 7 years, and have found him a gentleman and an artist. And also an expert on exotic Scotches! Which is how he first bribed me into giving him his first gig as FEAR. It was the only corrupt act I ever did! I was never bought with sex or drugs, but Lee did it with class! It was pure branded Scotch drinks!
