Lea Osborne

Noah met vocalist Lea Osborne in 1995 when Lea was being recruited by Rutgers University's Music Department. Noah had been amazed by her singing, but was doubly amazed when they eventually performed together and he discovered how easy Lea is to work with. She is a charter member of the Boogie Band, having worked with Mr. B and with the Noah Baerman songbook from the beginning.

Lea Osborne received a music degree from Rutgers in 1999. While pursuing her studies in operatic singing, Lea willfully concealed her talent as a pop/soul songstress. Fortunately for the Boogie Band, Noah persuaded Lea to sneak in for a few choruses of "Summertime" at an after-hours jam session he hosted. As soon as he heard that, he was hooked. Lea now lives in New Haven, CT and is a successful freelance vocalist in CT and NY, as well as the Boogie Band's focal point. She recently collaborated with New York pianist/percussionist Michael Grigsby on the original score to a dance piece to be premiered by the world-renowned José Limon Dance Company. Lea is also a respected music educator, teaching at several schools throughout Connecticut.

Noah says: believe me, Lea is not just a "chick singer" -- she really knows her stuff. She sings so naturally and instinctively that it may surprise people to know what a skilled and well-trained musician she is.

Mr. B says: anybody who isn't moved by Lea's singing is either deaf or in a coma. Probably both.

Mr. B's CD pick: the whole record is all about Lea, but man does she testify on Study War No More!
