Session 4 Denominational Landscape
Presenter-Frank Diaz
Respondees: Junior McGarrahan, Jack Haberer, Russ Stevenson and Joe Rightmayer
Diaz-
The key problem in our denomination is that there is no passion. General Assembly is passionless. We must build and pray for that passion for Christ or our denomination will die.
Why are we so disconnected from the pew to Louisville?
We have outdated and outmoded bureaucratic structures.
There is no vision to rally around. There used to be a vision for mission, but there is nothing anymore, mission is here in the church, not out there somewhere.
We have yet to identify a leader to rally us around the banner of Christ.
Therefore we are more community oriented and we become more of a congregational church.
Questions-
Neal Presa -SFTS-
Where is our theological breaking point? Is there a split/breaking point for you?
No, we are not leaving. God never promised that church would be a bed of roses. We need to revisit our callings. We are hopefully- (1) God is doing a new thing, (2) expect opposition to God doing a new thing.
We don’t choose where we serve.
Question on abortion. PFR divided, PPL carrying that banner.
