So here we are, midway between the end of Summer and the beginning of Winter.
Here we are at the traditional time at the meeting point between the world
of life and the world of death. Here we are in the twilight between the seasons
of living and dying.
This is the fifth hextant in our six-fold wheel. This is the time we call
Compassion, for it is the moment when we look to the Divine in all aspects
around us. This is the time when we connect with the spiritual threads which
bind us to each other, to all things, to life, to death, to our gods and
goddesses and all other forms of Divinity. We are connected to the Web of
Life. We draw strength from this Web and we give strength to the others in
the Web.
The threads of our lives have crossed the threads of others in the Web. Some
of these threads are still with us. Others have moved on. Tonight (today)
we honor those that have moved on; we honor the lost ties, the broken ties,
and we gain strength from sharing the gifts they have given us!
