Responsive Reverence # 1

[NOTE: The wording of the Reverence is unimportant, but the meaning of the Signposts needs to be stated.]

Candles laid out for reverence

Six candles of various colors are laid out in a circle -- clockwise they are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. A white candle is placed in the center. These candles represent the Signposts of the Path. They are: Devotion (red), Wisdom (orange), Realization (yellow), Action (green), Compassion (blue), Celebration (violet), and Harmony (white).

Leader: We affirm seven principles which guide us along our Path. These seven Signposts help us grow and develop on our spiritual journeys.
[the white candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Harmony.
All: We affirm Harmony. This is our focus.
[the red candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Devotion.
All: We affirm Devotion. We seek answers from the Divine Love within us. We revere this Love in its many forms -- all of which are sacred.
[the orange candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Wisdom.
All: We affirm Wisdom. We will grow in wisdom and share our knowledge and experience.
[the yellow candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Realization.
All: We affirm Realization. We acknowledge that we are children of the universe. We resonate with the sacredness within us.
[the green candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Action.
All: We affirm Action. We will 'practice what we preach'. We feel the ties that bind all things to The Web of Life. We will strive to protect this Web.
[the blue candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Compassion.
All: We affirm Compassion. We will find sacredness in all people, all things, all places. We will work for cooperation.
[the purple candle is lit]
Leader: I call upon Celebration.
All: We affirm Celebration. We will work to understand the differences among us. We will not look to them as barriers between us, but as unique gifts for our life's purpose.
[the white candle is again indicated]
Leader: Again, I call upon Harmony.
All: We affirm Harmony. We affirm the need for balance and diversity.
All: This is our Path.
