Relaxation / Trance Techniques (to Go)
Pay attention to your breathing. Relax and listen to the sound of my voice.
Now, take all the things which have been concerning you and find a place to put them away for a little while. Feel your mind grow silent. Feel the room grow dark.
There is a light shining at the very center of your being. Go toward that light.
You begin to move deep into your center, past the many rooms of your subconscious. There are busy rooms here, and some that are seldom touched. There are rooms here only used during your waking hours, and others used only in the dim night-time light.
You continue traveling further within yourself: deeper and deeper still. The passageway grows darker here. And it is not as well-maintained as your waking places.
Soon the way becomes very dark, but a faint glow ahead of you makes it easier to see. As you approach this glow you discover that it is in a very large, and very old chamber at the center of your being.
You continue moving further toward the light. And your eyes adjust to its brightness, as the rest of the passageway fades into darkness. Soon, all you can see is the shining room ahead.
It now becomes clear that the central chamber is lit by a fire pit in the middle. The flames are dancing high in the air in this room. And they cast shades of colors on the walls around them.
You now arrive in this vast chamber, watching the large flames in the center. And you notice that the flames seem to have no source, yet they continue to burn fervently. And you discover that each wall is lit by the dancing flames in a different color. The colors change around the room from red to orange to yellow to green to blue to purple. And on each wall there hangs a torch.
Each wall also contains a personal object beneath its torch. As I mention the energy of each wall you see the object bellow its torch.
The first wall is the start of your spiritual journey. There is an object associated with your devotion to your spiritual path. It is here beneath the torch.
The second wall carried you through a time of questions and searches, a time of introspection, and a time of learning from the world around you. An object representing this wisdom lies beneath its torch.
The third wall was the time you found your inner light: the time you first visited this chamber. Something reminds you of the image of the Divine you find within yourself. You find this object of realization here beneath the next torch.
Now you take the torch from the first wall and light it from the central fire. You light the second torch likewise. And you also light the third.
Now half of the chamber is bathed in bright white light. And the objects beneath the torches glow brightly as well.
Now you turn to the fourth wall. This was a time when you felt like sharing what you believe with the world. It may have been a conversation with someone about the nature of spirituality. Or it may have been a simple selfless act supporting and protecting the web of life. Your object of Action appears beneath the torch here.
The fifth wall was a time of feeling, a time when you helped nurture divinity in someone or something else. Your moment of compassion is represented by t he object you now see beneath the torch here.
The sixth wall was a time when you worshipped divinity wherever you found it. It was a sacred moment for you, when the universe sang and you danced to its song. An object representing your celebration is here as well.
You now take the fourth torch and light it from the central fire. You take the fifth torch and light it from the flame. And you finally light the sixth torch.
The torch lights now fill the chamber as brightly as the central flame,. And everything in here shines white with the brightness of their light.
As you have gone within to find the light, you now discover that you have something in your hand: it is another torch. You light this torch from the central flame as well, and it glows brightly.
Now a strange thing begins to happen. The light from each torch begins streaming into the torch in your hand. The flames all leave the torches on the wall and merge into the bright torch you now hold. Soon, only the central flame and your torch are the only sources of light here.
You now see the doorway ahead of you, leading you back out. With torch in hand you begin the journey back.
The voyage does not seem so long, nor nearly as unfamiliar, with the torch in your hand. You carry your entire spiritual journey with you.
Before long, you leave behind the darker rooms of your deeper self. You return to the rooms which are brighter and warmer, And soon you begin returning to your waking self.
