This site provides  science fair project instruction and links to over 300 "kid friendly" science sites (do not miss the crazy scientist link in the middle of this page).   Find good,  safe science information that really is entertaining education! Use navigation bar at top of page for easy access to all sections!

  • My HOME page highlights the most important locations on my site.
  • The HOMEWORK page contains a weekly news letter for  parents and the weekly overview of homework for students.
  • The PROJECTS/LINKS page are sites often used in the classroom.

My classroom uses technology to help my students explore the world,  challenge themselves,  improve their learning and have fun!  We want to produce engaged citizens, the future's innovators, and tomorrow's leaders.

Our hands-on, minds-on child centered science lab typically focuses on developing a few ideas by making connections between ideas and evidence through an inquiry-oriented, inductive approach in which data is collected and interpreted to build up to a main idea or conclusion.  Emphasis is placed on building scientific literacy and using a scientific method to write/communicate ideas in our 5-8th grade classrooms.  Students learn the method in incremental steps in our K-4 classrooms.  Our annual K-8 Science Fair celebrates our students' own investigations!

Mrs. Paluso will teach at St. James Academy in Solana Beach this fall.

The bitter...it was sad to be leaving CHA after 4 years. I hope science continues to be part of their everyday lives. I will miss you all. Keep in touch!
The sweet...I am excited to meet new students and families at Saint James. I look forward to continuing their great science program and adding my own twist!
If in Solana Beach, turn right instead of left to the Delmar Fair grounds and my new academy is just a couple of blocks away!

CHA hosted an Adult Education evening. Did you miss it? Mrs. Paluso taught Global Warming. Read about the issue below:

IT-E3 Tools:     INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY from UCSD - ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION TOOLS
Mrs. Paluso collaborated with other San Diego County teachers in a new environmental science initiative at UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering (incorporating sensors, IT, and an online multi-player game) to be taught at SJA this year. Read more at link below:

Project ASTRO
Project ASTRO astronomer Kent Richardson will come with me to Saint James Academy! He visited CHA last November 8, bringing his telescope so everyone at school could view the Mercury Transit.  See it yourself:  http://www.exploratorium.edu/transit/

We are also very thankful to Mr. Richardson, who is a docent at Palomar Observatory, for arranging a trip to the Observatory for middle school students.
Read more about it:
We are very lucky!  Mr. Richardson and I are trained by Project ASTRO but he has brought us so much more!
