Construction constituents of a church
interior create a photographic picture,
which, however, does not reflect the
interior as it is, but just the
constituents, which are transferred into
an artistic reflection about general
questions on the theme ÓLight and
DarknessÒ. This theme brings about the
relationships between the material and
the spiritual, in the sense of their
mutual and inseparable unity.
The objective sources thus, in fact,
lose their meaning.

The applied ÒtechnologyÒ is purely
photographic, the only stylization is
the transfer into black and white scale.
These photographs are 70 x 100 cm, and
then adjusted for the original locality
of the church, so that the church
building constituents could be
identified back to their sources. The
people, (regular or random) visitors to
the church, could thus compare the
objective reality with its
transformation into an artistic form,
which would be justified by the
reflection on the theme ÒLight and
Darkness.Ò

An optimum church for this project
should be open all day, and it should be
visited both by tourists and by regular
church-goers.

(The photographs included are taken in
the Church of the Assumption of Mary in
Opava, which meets this requirement.)
