Thank you for your inquiry about the Sears House on Bayview Road in Truro. The house is perched atop a dramatic bluff on a waterfront acre of land, offering a spectacular, unobstructed view of Cape Cod Bay and the entire "arm" of the Cape-- from Provincetown to Plymouth. Beach stairs take you down to your own private beach. At high and low tides, the water is lovely for swimming. Early in the season you may "whale watch" right from your deck-- last April I spotted six whales playing in the Bay about half a mile out. The glorious sunsets over the Bay will take your breath away. At dusk, the lights of Provincetown appear on the horizon, glittering like a jeweled necklace. Directly across the bay, a tiny arch of yellow lights twinkles from the Sagamore Bridge, and the sky glows above the distant towns of Orleans and Hyannis. In the dark, you hear the waves lapping at the shore below. If it is beauty and serenity you came for, you have arrived!
The three-bedroom house is an historic, Sears Roebuck "kit" house, delivered in precut pieces (with assembly instructions!) in 1904 by the train from New Haven which ran along the bluff. This rustic house is furnished in antiques, has a livingroom/kitchen with fireplace, a den and a dining area in the enclosed porch that runs along the entire water side of the house, a bath, and a large deck that extends to the edge of the bluff. Two of the bedrooms have a queen sized mattress, the third has a double bed. The house sleeps six. Sheets and towels are provided.
