As I remember this scene in the 1930's - Foreground; 1st entry was the five and dime store; 2nd entry was the Lucy White Department Store; Second Building: 1st entry Drugstore; 2nd entry was Porterdale Mercantile Company (Grocery Store)

The above two building were separated by a wide driveway. If you walked from the front (above) down this driveway you would have found the Barbershop and the Post Office on your left behind the Lucy White Department Store.  Photo's below.
