Long-tailed Duck at Barnegat Light, Ocean County, New Jersey
This very brightly colored female Long-tailed Duck was photographed at Barnegat Jetty on January 19 and 20, 2013. Coincidentally,
the same bird was photographed by Paul Guris on the 20th and questions were raised on the ID-Frontiers discussion group as
to whether this is a male or a female. For my part, I walked away thinking the bird was an adult female, albeit one of
the brightest imaginable for this species.
