Franklin's and Black-headed Gulls at Conneaut Harbor, Ashtabula County, OH
An adult Black-headed Gull in basic plumage was reported at Conneaut Harbor on Thursday September 29 by Craig Holt. Presumably
the same bird was there again on Sunday October 2, when a strong low-pressure system also brought a first-winter Franklin's
Gull to the sandspit for about a half hour or so. I was lucky enough to happen to arrive on the sandspit and find
the Franklin's immediately, unaware that it had dropped in just minutes before my arrival! Luck is a good thing. After the
Franklin's departed, the Black-headed was relocated, and I was able to make some images of both.
