Very rare in Allegheny County away from the three rivers, this accommodating Red-necked Grebe first appeared on March 11 at the Imperial Grasslands, and was still present through the 14th. This is the first record of Red-necked Grebe at this location since the "invasion year" of 2003, when Red-necked Grebes were found in numbers all across Pennsylvania. This year has seen a very good number of Red-necked Grebes as well, though not (yet) approaching the fallout of 2003.
