Ross's Geese at North Park and vicinity, Allegheny County, PA
These three Ross's Geese, representing just the third record for Allegheny County and one of only a few records of multiple
Ross's Geese in western Pennsylvania, have been present in the North Hills of Pittsburgh for at least one week. Originally
identified as Snow Geese, they were later found to be Ross's Geese by Dave Wilton who relocated them at North Park
on the afternoon of the 12th, when the images below were made.
They have been seen in several locations in the North Hills since the first report on 7-Jan. Besides North Park, they
have also been seen feeding in fields approximately 4-5 miles to the east, including a soccer field at Hampton Community
Park, and at least two small farm fields: one near Wagner and Middle Roads, and one on Cedar Run Road. All of these locations
are within about a mile of each other.
