Golden-crowned Warbler at Los Ebanos Preserve, Cameron County, TX
Another nice surprise in the Winter of the Mexican Rarity in south Texas, this golden-crowned warbler was discovered
on January 9th at the Los Ebanos Preserve in San Benito. There it remained up to and beyond January 16, when I was able
to obtain this photograph. Like other golden-crowned warblers that have occurred in Texas, this one was remarkably tame,
often approaching observers to within two or three feet! It moved very actively all around the preserve, but a
little patience generally yielded most observers some outstanding views within a half-hour or so of searching.
