Letter from Mike Kohut & Walt Sukhenko
President & Manager

Ukrainian American Sports Club 'Poltava' a subsidiary of International Sister Cities Council of Irondequoit, NY, Inc. has recently organized young boys and girls to prepare for soccer competition both locally and internationally. As of today we have four teams under our club banner; 56 children, 18 years old and under. Eighty percent of our players are children of recent refugees/immigrants from Ukraine.

We need uniforms and start up supplies for each of these 4 team groupings. We appeal to you and your organization to help sponsor the many sporting needs of such an undertaking. Your logo could be well represented by our local youth via our team uniforms. As a new organization, we need equipment, supplies, safety kits as well as proper funding to enter soccer league competition next spring 2004. As individuals, businesses and organizations you all play a key part in the success of this project. Our primary objective for this initiative is our youth. Your monetary consideration towards our request will be most appreciated. Any amount contributed will most certainly, help our goal. Please consider our appeal by helping us help our children!

MANAGERS REPORT/Walter Sukhenko

Finally after a year of communting to Henrietta to use the soccer field at St. Dimitrias Church, we have our own field behind St. Mary's Ukrainian Church Hall. Thanks to the support of St. Mary's Church Council, and with the help of Mike Kohut, Peter Iwasiw, Walter Sukhenko, Jim Temchenko, Walter Kompanijec, Nick Kompanijec, and Father Igor Krekhovetsky who helpedcut the trees and carry away the debris to make the field regulation size.

The goal posts were donated by Mr. Jerry Pavlovych and back supprts by Mr. Dave Johnson, and Peter Iwasiw, our special thanks.

The field was first used during our second annual picnic on August 23rd 2003, where we had three games between the new and older generation. Our hopes are for a very successful year in 2004.
