Who We Are: In the spring of 2002, Ukrainian American Sports Club was reborn. After 30 years of organized Ukrainian Soccer inactivity in the greater Rochester area, Ukrainian Sports Club like the phoenix has risen from the ashes and is destined for greatness.

In May of 2002, Wasyl Kornylo, Walter Sukhenko, Michael Kohut, Jimmy Temchenko, Dimitri Sushchik and Anatole Fesyuk held their first organizational meeting with the purpose of resurrecting the Ukrainian American Sports Club and once again "enriching Ukrainian People's lives through soccer". The mission of the Ukrainian American Sports Club is to provide a successful soccer program that is available for Ukrainians of all ages.

Long term goals: 'To build a Ukrainian Sports & Cultural Center for the entire Ukrainian Community in the greater Rochester area'

Causes & Ideas:

Rebirth of the Ukrainian American Sports Club. After 30 years of Ukrainian Soccer inactivity in the city of Rochester, Ukrainian American Sports Club like the phoenix has risen from the ashes and is destine for greatness, "enriching Ukrainian people's lives through soccer".

Working together for the past year and a half with the Ukrainian community in the greater Rochester area, we have achieved our primary goal, which was to "re-introduce Ukrainian youth soccer program to the city of Rochester". Today we have 54 young Ukrainian athletes playing in our club. The two boys team age 14 and under, and 16 and over have completed their initial successful 2003 season in organized Rochester Soccer League. It was a great and a very satisfying feeling, to see our young Ukrainian players wearing on their uniforms a blue and yellow Ukrainian flag insignia. They made us proud.

Ukrainian American Sports Club priorities include a focus on:

A.  To provide opportunities for Ukrainian athletes of all ages and skill levels to play the sport of soccer.

B.  At the same time to promote education, good citizenship, teamwork and player development skills.

It takes a great deal of money to provide a successful soccer program that is available for Ukrainians of all ages, to ensure that our exisiting skill players are having opportunities to grow their talents and at the same time provide tools and resources for our growth. It is essential that we develop a soccer field of our own to play and practice on.

Our success greatly depends on individuals, businesses and organizations support. At this time I'd like to express my personal appreciation and the Board of Director's appreciation to the following organizations and individuals: Rochester Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, Irondequoit - Poltava Sister Cities, St. Mary's Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Fedyk Builders Inc., Mr. Nick Juskiw, Mr. Jerry Pavlovych, Mr. Dave Johnson and the entire Ukrainian community of Rochester for their generous monetary contributions.

If you want the Ukrainian American Sports Club to grow, become an active member, take part in our fundraising activites. We need your support in order to succeed in this worthy undertaking. "Our Youth Is Our Future".
