It's hard to believe now, but sweet Gladys Night, Squeak's mom, was quite a wild marsupial back in the 1960's.

Based largely on her cult status as a rodeo star, Gladys was offered a guest appearance on the popular TV show Laugh-In. Unfortunately, it would be her only appearance. Barbara Eden, who was scheduled to appear in the same episode, was outraged to discover that Gladys was wearing an identical outfit - right down to the pouch on the front of the dress. Gladys claimed, and still claims, that it was Ms Eden who stole her design. A row broke out. A skit featuring Gladys and Barbara Eden together had to be re-written. Gladys Night was never invited back.

Although she can't prove it, Gladys claimed for a long time that it was the Laugh-In incident that cancelled her scheduled appearance on I Dream Of Jeanie. She was to play Major Healy's exotic Australian girlfriend who causes the delay of a moon launch. (The show's producers claim it was Gladys' inability to fake an Australian accent.)

These days, Gladys prefers to not talk about it. She'd rather finish her almond.
