1910

1910 was a busy year for Will and Nellie. In February, Will left Myrtle Point and returned to Schuyler, Nebraska, to join his brother Henry's furniture store/ undertaking business. He returned to Marshfield in June to marry Nellie on the 22nd of that month. Immediately after their wedding, the newlyweds headed back to Schuyler, stopping to visit Will's sister and brother-in-law (Mary & Sid Tivey) in Eugene. Nell's family (particularly her mother) back in Marshfield kept in touch by sending post cards.

Fred. This is a long distance photo enlarged of our boat the Czarina as she wrecked of the Coos Bay. See all the men in the rigging. Only one was saved. The heavy seas carried away her bridge, her lifeboats, and the water put out her fires. I was agent for her and the Breakwater...Miller was at Schuyler last...and knew her crew quite well. Will Steamer Czarina, lost Jan. 12, ‘10 with 25 men. Crew shown in rigging.

*Probably 1910 because they were living in Schuyler in Nov.1910; Nellie would have been pregnant with Leland in Nov 1911, and she’s not in this photo; and they were back in Marshfield by Nov 1912.
