Michael (John Michael) RUGH, son of Jacob (Jon Jacob) RUGH Jr. and Betsy (Elizabeth Louise) KEPPEL (KEPPLE) was born in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1817.
He was baptized on April 26, 1818 in Greensburg at the First Lutheran Church.
In adulthood, he married and had several of his children while still living in Hempfield Township (Near Greensburg) before moving (1847) by "flat boat" to near Pierceville in Van Buren County Iowa.
In the spring of 1857 he moved to 60 acres of farmland he had purchased in nearby Scotland County, Missouri.
He was the original Rugh in Northeastern Missouri. His farm in East Union Township of Scotland County was in (or near) the area once known as "Elm Grove" not far from Azen.
On March 17, 1842 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania he married Ruey (Zeruah) WILLIAMS. Ruey (Zeruah) WILLIAMS was born in Greensburg, Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1817. She was the daughter of Daniel WILLIAMS Jr. and Katherine (Catherine) FISKEY (FISKES OR FISCUS?). To see Ruey, click <here>.
Ruey died on May 28, 1912 at age 94 in Union Township, Scotland County, Missouri and was buried at Prairie View Methodist Cemetery there.
Michael died on December 1, 1893 in Scotland County, Missouri and was buried at Prairie View Church Cemetery. His was the first funeral and burial held at this little church & cemetery.

Michael and Ruey had the following children:

3. Frank (Francis Marion) RUGH was born in Farmington, Van Buren County, Iowa on March 3, 1849.
He moved to Scotland County Missouri with his parents in 1856. He was a farmer.
On March 3, 1879 he married Mary Ellen CARDER. Mary Ellen CARDER was born in Missouri in April of 1855.
Mary died in 1919 in Scotland County, Missouri and was buried at Mount Olive Cemetery there in Scotland County.
Frank died on August 14, 1933 in Scotland County, Missouri and was buried at Mount Olive Cemetery in Scotland County.

6. John (John Daniel) RUGH was born at Elm Grove, near Azen), Scotland County, Missouri on December 8, 1856.
On December 7, 1882 in Scotland County, Missouri he married Mary Ellen DRUMMOND. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on March 31, 1861, the daughter ofr of James DRUMMOND and Louise NUTTER. She died September 21, 1922 in Douglas, Garfield County, Oklahoma.
John died on May 3, 1935 in Douglas, Garfield County, Oklahoma.
