William KNOX (The Sr.) was born in New York State in 1828.

About 1857 or 1858, possibly in New York State, he married Almira. Almira was born in New York State in 1835.

By November of 1858, at the time of the birth of their first child, they were in Illinois. By the time of the 1870 federal census they are shown residing on their family farm at Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois.

Almira died in August of 1876 and is buried in the Crystal Lake Cemetery. William died in April of 1903 and lies near Almira in the same cemetery.

William & Almira had the following children:

3. John KNOX was born in Illinois in 1863.

4. Jennie (Jane H.) KNOX was born in Illinois in 1866.

5. Fanny J. KNOX was born in Illinois in 1867 and died in 1869.

6. James S. KNOX was born in Illinois in January of 1870.

7. Cora A. KNOX was born in Illinois in 1872 and died in 1874.

8. Lewis H. KNOX was born in Illinois in 1874 and died in 1875.
