John (Jesse Johannes) RUGH

John (Jesse Johannes) RUGH, son of Jacob RUGH Jr. and Betsy (Elizabeth Louise) KEPPEL (KEPPLE) was born in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1820.

On July 16, 1820 he was baptized at The Greensburg Lutheran Church in Greensburg.

He spent his adult lifetime in Westmoreland County.

He was a Coach-Maker.


On January 16, 1844 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania he married Sarah (Sara) WILLIAMS. Sarah (Sara) WILLIAMS was born in Pennsylvania in November of 1824. She was the daughter of Daniel WILLIAMS Jr. and Katherine (Catherine) FISKEY (FISKES OR FISCUS?).

John died on November 24, 1904 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Union Cemetery in Greensburg.

Sarah died on June 30, 1910 and was buried at Union Cemetery alongside John.


John and Sarah had the following children:

1. Kate (Anna Catherine or Katherine) RUGH was born in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in December of 1849. She was in her father's household in Hempfield Township during the U.S. census of 1850. She was recorded as living there again in 1900 at the age of 50. She died on December 3, 1931 in Hempfield Township and was buried at Union Cemetery in Greensburg.

2. Elizabeth R. RUGH was born on August 22, 1851 and died on January 22, 1932.

3. Sadie (Sarah Ellen) RUGH was born in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in November of 1853. She died on October 3, 1921 in Hempfield Township and was buried at Union Cemetery in Greensburg. In 1897 she married F. W. GUY. F. W. GUY was born about 1855.


4. Oliver William RUGH was born in June, 1856 and died on September 23, 1936.

5. William E. RUGH was born on November 12, 1858 and died on October 8, 1957.
