Jessie was born in the area of Scotland County Missouri near Azen known as "Elm Grove" on January 28, 1872.

On December 22, 1901 she married Gilbert B. JONES at her parent's home at Elm Grove. Gilbert was born in Shannondale, Indiana on August 4, 1866. He was the son of George Misner JONES and Sallie (Sarah Eliza) SANFORD.

Following marriage they had their own farm in Elm Grove. This is where their children were all subsequently born and raised. Two of the hildren passed away in infancy.

After many years on the farm in Missouri, they moved for a time to Indianola Iowa.

They eventually retired to a home near their son Glenn in Belton Texas (they were there in 1949) but in time they moved back to Scotland County (Missouri) and Southern Iowa to be with or near other children located there. This is where they spent their last years.

Jessie died on June 28, 1955 in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. She was buried at Providence Cemetery near Azen in Scotland County, Missouri.

Gilbert died on May 17, 1960 at the Davis County Hospital in Davis County, Iowa. He was buried at Providence Cemetery alongside Jessie.
