My own experience with making chainmail is actually somewhat limited, but I have managed to pick up a tip or two that will hopefully prove useful to someone just getting started in the hobby. While I do not by any means consider myself an expert in the field, and there are many people out there with much more experience than I, everything I include here reflects the techniques which I use myself, and they do work.
As with most recreational pastimes, making chainmail is a learning experience for me. If you have any suggestions or additions that you feel I should try and/or include in my pages, please do not hesitate to drop me a note with the details. If I try it and find it works, I'll include it here on my pages, along with a little attribution.
NOTE: For the step-by-step example below, I will be using the "European 4-in-1 pattern", which seems to be a fairly "standard" example of what people have in mind when they think of chainmail (at least in my experience). Later on, I will have examples of other patterns, and details on how they differ in construction.
