ICARUS SOLAR OBSERVATORY
The Icarus Solar Observatory is used primarily for high
resolution H-alpha and white light observations of the sun.
The observatory is equipped with three primary instruments, a 5"
Takahashi FS 128, a Takahashi Sky 90 and a William Optics 80 mm f/6
Lomo triplet. The FS 128 is used with
a Baader Herschel Wedge for white light imaging and a Solar Spectrum
0.2Å H-alpha filter for H-alpha imaging. The Sky 90
is also used with the Solar Spectrum 0.2Å H-alpha filter and also
with a double stacked set of 60 mm Solarscope H-alpha
filters for full
disk and wide field imaging at either a 0.5Å or a
0.7Å bandpass. The Williams Optics 80 mm is used
exclusively with the Solarscope 60 mm H-alpha filters.
