Eli S. Pine, taught at New York City Public Schools, Brooklyn Technical High School, and at Long Island University. Won accolades from the students at all schools. Was cited unanimously by the student body in the Student Guidebook at Long Island University as "outstanding teacher of the faculty". Professor Pine's classes were always highly over subscribed. Two former students approached Professor Pine on the street some years ago telling him "We would like you to know something. We both went to Columbia University for an advanced course in Calculus over the summer. We were frightened at the competition from the other students. They came from the best schools all over the world and we came from your class at Long Island University. You know what ? We were the only two students that knew what was going on."
