To men, magic is a myth.
A superstition held only by the most primitive of cultures, To the Gerizim
however, it is as real as gunpowder and kevlar.
Called Calah, Gerizim magicks are looked at as being more spiritual gifts
from their gods, or Kings as they call them, than being something that
comes from within themselves. Originally the Calah were used for:
Illusion - To act
as camoflauge, mask a stealthy approach or spook a foe
Senses- To track elusive
prey
Offense and Defense -
To battle animals that were to large to bring down normally; use against
smaller creatures was considered cowardly |

However upon their return, the Gerizim have been forced
to alter their uses of the Calah to survive in their new world. Their illusion
magicks were altered to work against complex sensor grids. Their sensing
magicks needed to watch for incoming projectile weaponry. Their battle
magicks had to pierce and protect from metal, not just flesh and bone.
It was Javan who took the first steps to creating the arts of Techoccult.
Blending science and magick into a useable form took decades. But by the
year 2200 C.E. it has nearly been perfected. Now every member of Javan's
Shimrath are heavily cybered, cyberware that runs not on battery packs
but on EDs, everlasting batteries that run on the souls of those slain
in glorious combat. And new Calah have been created in response to the
new environment: |

Net- To turn Virtual Reality
into a hunting ground
Mechanical- To allow direct
control over technological devices
Nanotech - To repair and
modify organic creatures
In addition to the intrusive powers of NetCalah, the
controlling MechCalah and the regenerative capabilities of NanoCalah, these
powers can be used for the fearsome purpose of reanimation. Using NetCalah,
souls of netrunners can be ripped from their hosts and remade into mindless
servitors. Using MechCalah, cybernetic bodies can be made to serve even
after their human death. Using NanoCalah, corpses can be infected with
Saris VII and brought back to a shambling approximation of life. Javan
uses these monstrosities to strike terror, a tactic that works best when
the creature in question was a friend of the ones being assaulted. So far
the governments' responses to this have been to order cremation the only
legal means of destroying corpses for the Calah do not follow any known
laws of physics that human scientists understand. |
