Plasma Gun (PG)
The plasma weapons discharge a "packed" bolt of high energy particles. Almost experimental still, the bolt literally melts its way through an enemy ship. Plasma "Guns" use the LCS for aiming.
Gatling Plasma Gun (GA-PG)
To achieve the extremely high rate of fire, the bolts pack much less energy, and no guidance. More hits make up for the difference. Very much like the other projectile weapons.
Burst Plasma Gun (BU-PG)
Not really a "gun", the Burst Plasma Weapon launches the same "packed" bolt as a Plasma Torpedo, but without the guidance package. Lacking the coherence of the torpedo, it spreads and dissipates over distance, giving it less punch. However, it has a slightly faster firing rate, and still does a tremendous amount of damage. An added benefit of the dissipation is that aiming becomes somewhat easier.
