Vaught Systems/FT-DO MDS-3A "Paladin" Fleet Defense Interceptor

Faced with ever more lethal missile designs, corporate fleets began looking for a means of better defending themselves from these long range menaces. The most effective design in the high-tech missile wars came, naturally enough, from Vaught Systems and the FT-DO design groups. With a versatile array of countermeasures at its disposal, the MDS-3A is capable of defeating missile salvos that would quickly overwhelm any other fighter, and what's more, its systems can be used to protect other fighters, making it an essential member of any large formation. As a fleet defense unit, it is unmatched, removing an attacker's capability to destroy other defenses from stand-off ranges. Carriers are well served by the Paladin's shield.
