Laurie
Hendricks, M.F.A.
Laurie Hendricks, M.F.A., is a South Pasadena artist who has been drawing since her
first set of toddler crayons. From New England roots, she is a direct descendent
of painter John Trumbull, know best for The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
and other depictions of the American Revolution. Hendricks’ Berkeley, California
upbringing confirmed her in this artistic tradition; she was surrounded by painters, potters, and the beauty of the San Francisco
Bay area.
Since earning her Master of Fine Arts degree at the San Francisco Art Institute,
she has pursued painting as well as acting and filmmaking. She has continued
her painting studies with Jove Wang, Corinne Hartley and Joseph Mendez. Hendricks
is a colorist who returns to nature for her subjects of florals, still lifes, and Plein Air landscapes. Her paintings hang in many private collections.
Hendricks is well known for her “house portraits” as well as portraits
of children. In addition to commissioned works, she teaches watercolor and drawing
classes for children and adults.
Laurie Hendricks lives in South Pasadena with her husband Peter, their two daughters,
Tess and Eliza, and dog Lucky.
