ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHIC SCIENCE

"Finally -- a breakthrough in technology that doesn't involve a fitness machine!"

The Technology

The Electroencephalograph (î-lèk´tro-èn-sèf´e-le-gràf´) or EEG is
an instrument that measures electrical potentials on the scalp and generates
a corresponding record of the brain's activity.

Using the EEG to Study Olfaction

Over the past two years, our team has studied the effects of odorants on
the brain using EEG technology. Click here to see the electrical activity
of a brain with a normally functioning neuro-olfactory epithelium.

The following are illustrations from cases wherein an anosmic subject
(that is, having no sense of smell) is exposed to a variety of odors.
As in the above example, brain activity is shown in bright yellow,
bright orange, and bright green.

Conclusions

After close evaluation of all the images and evidence, we can safely
assert that our new electroencephalograph is a very sophisticated
and very technological machine.

Based on the data, our team suggests that the subject's anosmia is caused
by the presence of a microscopic parasite hosted in the nasal cavity that is
interfering with the adsorption of odorants.
